Fall is finally in the air here in Jersey City! And, as everyone young and old is well-aware, there’s no better way to get in the autumn spirit than by going pumpkin picking as Halloween gets closer and closer.
If you’re ready to carve a pumpkin with the kids, paint it or just display it as some authentic fall décor in your Beacon apartment, then visit these farms that offer pumpkin picking this month. You better hurry though if you’re looking for that perfect pick!
Ripple Hill Farm, located at 181 Mountain Rd, Basking Ridge which is about 45 minutes from your Beacon apartment, is known for their you-pick activities, including peaches, tomatoes, apples, and of course, pumpkins!
Throughout October, visitors can pick their own pumpkins at Ripple Hill Farm, which is a small family-owned and operated farm that has been growing produce for 50 years. If you don’t feel like picking your own, you can also purchase pumpkins from their farmstand on Sundays.
Melick’s Town Farm, located at 351 NJ-28, Bridgewater which is about 45 minutes from your Beacon apartment, is one of the largest farms in New Jersey with nearly 300 acres and you can bet they’re growing some great pumpkins on the property!
Head to the farm on October weekends for a horse drawn wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch where you can select your own pumpkins still growing on the vine. They also have hay wagon rides at their cider mill and a large selection of pumpkins at their farmers’ markets.
