Eating your Wary Through National Burrito Day in Jersey City

02Apr

National Burrito Day is observed annually on the first Thursday in April. There are plenty of places around the Beacon which serve this delicious meal to enjoy with friends.  Burritos also pair perfectly with margaritas!

If you have never tried a burrito it’s a heavy tortilla wrapped around meat, cheese, tomato, rice, beans, vegetables, and sauces.  Burritos are traditionally filled with ground beef, shredded chicken, shredded beef or shredded pork.  If you’re vegetarian, skip the meat and do all veggies! Here are some great burrito places which are all just a 10 minute drive from The Beacon.

Bubby’s Burritos – Their food is prepared with only the finest and freshest ingredients, making them all delicious and satisfying. Bubby’s salads, quesadillas, soft and hard shell tacos, burritos, enchiladas, wraps, and combo plates are all mouth-watering and will satisfy your cravings.  Some of their favorite burritos are the grilled chicken burrito, grilled steak burrito and their vegan burrito.

Taqueria Viva Mexico Kitchen Café – This establishment is a cornerstone in the Jersey City community and has been recognized for its outstanding Mexican cuisine, excellent service and friendly staff. They serve classic dishes and only use high quality fresh ingredients. They are open all day and offer breakfast burritos, and have 16 types of lunch/dinner burritos such as the cactus burrito, chorizo burrito and Cajun shrimp burrito.

Orale Mexican Kitchen – Orale is a fun place with great margaritas to pair with your burrito.  If you can’t celebrate National Burrito Day on April 4th, go for brunch on the weekend and order the Burrito Loco which has eggs, chorizo, bacon, cheese, black beans and salsa.

Beatlemania Hits Jersey City This March

26Mar

Another fun weekend of music is coming to Jersey City! Mark your calendars for the 45th Annual New York Metro Fest for Beatles Fans on March 29th, 30th and 31st at the Hyatt Regency.

This is their 3rd year back in Jersey City, bringing a weekend of nonstop Beatles concerts featuring the incredible Liverpool band and many more on their main stage, special guests, immersive activities, Beatles dress-up, sound-alike and battle of the band contests, panels with Beatles experts, trivia, art, yoga, a second stage full of concerts, all taking place in the beautiful Hyatt Regency on the Hudson River. Hotel rooms are sold out, but lucky for Beacon residents, it’s just a 10-minute car ride away or 35 minute walk.

Liverpool, arguably the best Beatles cover band for the past 25 years, will be paying tribute to Abbey Road, playing dozens of other Beatles tunes, and leading the Grand Jam Finale with musical guests on both Saturday and Sunday night.  From the mop-top hair, costumes and vintage collection of guitars and amplifiers, no detail has been overlooked to bring the look and sound of The Beatles to the live stage.

Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson is the only waterfront hotel offering unobstructed views of the NYC skyline across the Hudson River.  Vu Restaurant and Lounge is located on the second floor of the hotel and is a favorite of guests and locals.

Jersey City According to TimeOut:New York

15Mar

TimeOut: New York’s latest edition features Jersey City; “the New York areas hippest hood right across the river”.  They highlighted the best places to eat, drink and experience in this incredible city we live in.

Food – As you may know, Razza Pizza was voted the best pizza in New York City in 2017.  That article circulated all over Jersey City and New York City and people were flocking to Razza.  Our favorite pie here is the Bufala pie with Jersey tomatoes and fresh buffalo mozzarella.  Although they charge for bread and butter we highly recommend ordering some. They take a lot of pride in it! Ani Ramen was also on the list because of their delicious food, hip environment and boozy ice cream speakeasy in the back.

Drinks – Mathews Food and Drink, Cellar 335 and Hyatt House were just a few of the bars/restaurants listed on places to enjoy cocktails.  Mathews is a chic, southern restaurant and bar which features a Jersey City favorite drink called 80’s glam.  It’s a gin-based drink topped with edible glitter.  Cellar 335 has a stunning bar that has fun tiki drinks year-round.  Visit the Hyatt House for incredible views of Manhattan on their rooftop that are 100% Instagram worthy!

Experiences – While the Liberty Science Center focuses on teaching kids about science during the day, their After Dark events involve dancing, booze and biology.  Perfect for anyone looking to have some fun while they learn! Monty Hall is a free-form radio station that has live shows so music lovers can enjoy a fun night together as a community.  Their next performers are the Black Lips on April 17th.
