On April 27th, celebrate Earth Month at beautiful Liberty State Park in Jersey City. This is New Jersey’s largest Earth Day celebration with over 10,000 attendees who will celebrating Earth Day’s 29th year. Adults, teens and kids look forward to attending the “litter free” and “carbon neutral” event filled with non‑stop entertainment, healthy food vendors and educational fun for all.
With the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as a spectacular backdrop, Liberty State Park is one of the country’s most dramatic parks. It offers a variety of recreational uses. Take advantage of the miles of walkways by walking, jogging, biking or rollerblading. It also has a par course that runs along Freedom Way. Bring your binoculars, chairs and blankets and enjoy a picnic while watching the numerous species of birds which frequent the park. If you enjoy water activities, enjoy a day of fishing, crabbing or kayaking.
In addition to the Earth Day festival, there will also be volunteer Nature Path and beach cleanup. Volunteers will remove weeds and plant native shrubs along the Nature Path and help clean up trash on the beach shoreline. It is advised to dress to work outdoors, wear sturdy shoes, and bring work gloves if you have them. On a hot day, sunscreen and water are also recommended. The group will meet at the Nature Center located on Freedom Way.
